Go Beyond Medication and Diagnosis
Understand the underlying reasons for your child’s behavior.
A psychological diagnosis such as ADHD, Autism, or Learning Disability is just the first step in improving quality of life for your child at home and in school. Learning about the underlying neurocognitive patterns will assist you in behavioral, cognitive, sensory, language, and/or academic therapies.
A standard psychological assessment can diagnose conditions such as ADHD based on behavior, but it lacks the specificity to understand the symptoms and to customize treatment.
A Neuropsychological Evaluation is often a better option and certainly more comprehensive. Neuropsychology is the integration of genetic, developmental, and environmental history with testing data. This allows us to gain a better understanding of the brain behavior relationship, how it relates to success for your child, and specific interventions to achieve that success.
A Neuropsychological evaluation includes assessment in the following areas.
Attention and concentration
Working Memory
Verbal and visual memory
Auditory and visual processing
Visual spatial functioning
Language and reading skills
Sensory development and sensory integration
Gross and fine motor development
Social skill development
Executive functioning
Emotional and personality development
